Role Overview SkyWest Airlines is accepting applications for First Officer positions. The First Officer assists the Pilot-in-Command in conducting each flight safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Assist the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) in conducting the flight safely and efficiently. Assist the PIC and/or passenger service personnel as needed to ensure a prompt departure. Assist or relieve the PIC in manipulation of the flight controls while underway, including taxiing, take-off and landing. Requirements Valid driver's licence. US citizenship, or the ability to show proof of the right to work in the US upon hire. Current passport, with the ability to travel in and out of the US, Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas without restriction (plus any applicable visa). Must be available to work all hours, including nights, on any day of the week, including weekends and holidays. Based on pilot bidding seniority and other factors, must be available for a call-out with as little as two hours' notice, at all hours including nights, weekends and holidays. Must be within three months of the minimum hour requirements listed below. Willing to fly the assigned schedule based on pilot bidding seniority, including days, nights, weekends and holidays. Licences & Qualifications Commercial Licence with Multi-engine and Instrument Ratings. Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate (verified at interview). FCC Radio Licence. English Proficiency Endorsement (EPE). ATP written requirement: SkyWest will provide the means to complete a SkyWest-approved CTP course for candidates who complete an application and successfully pass the pilot interview. Experience Applicants must meet one of the following minimums. ATP Certificate with at least 1,500 hours: At least 23 years old. 500 hours cross-country, 100 hours night, 75 hours instrument, 25 hours actual multi-engine. Restricted ATP with 1,500 hours: At least 21 years old. 200 hours cross-country, 100 hours night, 75 hours instrument, 25 hours actual multi-engine. Restricted ATP with 1,250 hours: At least 21 years old. 30 semester credit hours of aviation-related coursework, with transcripts. Associate degree from an approved institution and proof of completion. 200 hours cross-country, 100 hours night, 75 hours instrument, 25 hours actual multi-engine. Instrument Commercial Rating earned under Part 141 at an approved institution. Restricted ATP with 1,000 hours: At least 21 years old. 60 semester credit hours of aviation-related coursework, with transcripts. Bachelor's degree from an approved institution and proof of completion. 200 hours cross-country, 100 hours night, 75 hours instrument. Instrument Commercial Rating earned under Part 141 at an approved institution. Restricted ATP with 750 hours: Military pilot. DD-214 Honorable Discharge or record of current service. Helicopter and glider time: SkyWest recognises the skills common to helicopter and glider flying and will accept helicopter/glider time as part of an applicant's total time, provided the applicant has a minimum of 250 PIC hours of fixed wing. Additional Information Canadian clearance. Some past criminal convictions, including DUIs, may prevent travellers from gaining Canadian clearance without a Temporary Resident Permit or Criminal Rehabilitation. Applicants must verify their ability to travel in and out of Canada unrestricted. Reserve. Most pilot new hires can initially expect to be placed on reserve, depending on the needs of individual domiciles, and time on reserve can be substantial for flight jobs. Ready reserve is also used, most likely at domiciles or hubs. Regular reserve policy requires a two-hour call-out, and pilots on reserve must be available at all hours, including nights, weekends and holidays. Domiciles. Arizona: Phoenix, Tucson.
